Lions, Tigers, and Beers

Orange County cuisine with a wild twist.

BEVY OF BITES: With today's flourishing foodie culture, there's no shortage of culinary festivals and tastings. Even the most omnivorous explorer can have a difficult time focusing their feasts. If you've found yourself in this sticky position, consider a drive up to Silverado this Friday, Sept. 13, for the OC Weekly 10th Annual Decadence Tasting Event. Not only will you have your cake and eat it too, but you'll enjoy it with a wide variety of sweet and savory fare, inventive spirits, and spunky entertainment, all in a gorgeous wildlife habitat.

LUSCIOUS AND LIVELY: Decadence is not a term to be used lightly, and this event delivers in all respects. Food offerings are provided by Orange County restaurants and food trucks of all sorts, complete with vegan and vegetarian options. Wash it all down with free tastings of popular wine, vodka, gin, scotch, and tequila. Once you've had your fill, take a tour of the Rancho Las Lomas zoological garden, which provides a lushly landscaped home to rescue animals ranging from wildcats to exotic birds. Finish off the evening with live music and dancing, or fit in some retail therapy with the help of exhibiting artisans.

GARNISH YOURSELF:
Tickets to the event are $30 general admission or $50 VIP, which grants access to an exclusive lounge and additional complimentary drinks. A portion of the proceeds benefit the rescue efforts of Rancho Las Lomas. Ticket holders must be age 21 or over, and cocktail attire is required.
