Tahoe Resorts Open For Season

Powder-hungry skiers and snowboarders can look forward what resorts have to offer this season

OPENING DAY: Snowboard and ski enthusiasts rejoice! Two of Northern California's largest snow resorts are open. Both Heavenly Ski Resort and Northstar California opened on Friday, Nov. 18 for the 2011-2012 ski and snowboard season.

WINTER IGNITE: Heavenly, open now every day of the week until 4 p.m., has its traditional trails plus a full terrain park on Ante Up run that includes two jumps.  Not into skiing? Consider jumping on the gondola without skis for dinner or drinks at the Tamarack Lodge. Check out Winter Ignite - a week of music, parties, and the area's best nightlife.

MORE THAN SLOPES: Northstar may have limited terrain with only man-made snow but it has discounted rates for those who want to hit the snow early. There's also skating and s'mores on the resort's 9,000 sq. foot rink, live music in the Village at Northstar as well as Moonlight or Star Gazing Snowshoe Tours.
