Big Thunder Suite Sneak Peek

BIG THUNDER SUITE SNEAK PEEK: Any SoCaler who's sweet on themed sleepovers has a cotton-candy-soft spot for The Disneyland Hotel. The hotel that influenced hundreds of later theme-park-close hotels debuted the same year as Disneyland -- that would be 1955, of course -- and has hosted thousands of tuckered-out families since.

RENOVATIONS: The DH has been undergoing a major refreshening over the last several months, and in some places, a major reimagining as well. The Big Thunder Suite, which was just sneak-peeked on the Disneyland blog, is part of that reimagining and refreshening. Rustic touches, an Old-West-y bathtub, and saloon-soft lighting are part of the room. On the blog, prospective room guests are called "pioneers." We hope the room's mini bar will be labeled the ice box, too. Disney? Thoughts?

WE'D BE TEMPTED... To say "it's the wiiildest ride in the wilderness" several times while staying in this room. That ride. You wave at the animatronic goat with the dynamite in his mouth, too, when you zip past? It's tradition. The Big Thunder Suite'll be located in the Disneyland Hotel's Dream Tower, along with several other themed suites.
