So I have a strong feeling Cory Stier, who handles booking for Soda Bar, was being extra clever when he booked Soda Bar and Casbah tonight (which is a "Soda Bar presents" show) by locking in Shy Girls at Casbah and Shy Boys at Soda. Shy Girls is the R&B project of Portland's Dan Vidmar in the vein of Mayer Hawthorne. Shy Boys is wildly different, from Kansas City, Missouri, who play jangly indie-pop with multi-part harmonies. But the show most people will be talking about tonight is the return of Wolfmother at House of Blues. The Aussie guitar rockers bring a big sound and the openers Soft White Sixties make for a solid bill. Around town, Pinkeye rock Bar Pink and Pall Jenkins (of the Black Heart Procession, Three Mile Pilot, Mr. Tube and numerous other amazing local projects) plays a free show at Whistle Stop.
