Sounds Like San Diego: Jan. 18

Dent May, the Penetrators, and KRS-One top Friday night's live-music options

Because of this line of work, I get to see things 'behind the curtain,' if you will. One of the particularly troubling things of late is the amount of fake tickets on the market. It used to be that you'd go to a show, maybe find a couple dudes outside selling tickets, and maybe you'd take your chances. This practice has moved online, and tonight's show with the Penetrators has fallen victim. The message usually says something like "I have tickets but my family plan has changed and I won't be able to attend. Selling tickets." Of course, these people don't have tickets. They don't have real profiles. Or real friends. Or even real pictures. Several venues are now circumventing this practice by forcing approval on all event comments, but it's time-consuming and definitely not fail-proof. So buyer beware. And maybe just buy tickets when they go on sale. The Penetrators play a sold-out show at the Casbah, Dent May always brings a party to Soda Bar, and hip-hop legend KRS-One performs at the Observatory North Park.
