What started as one show with San Diego's Rugburns in 1994, has evolved into the renowned Del Mar Summer Concert Series, consisting of seven Friday shows (4 O'clock Fridays) and four Saturday concert/beer festivals at the Del Mar Racetrack.

Recruiting national talent, the concerts -- free with your track admission -- begin after the last race and offer an outdoor-festival vibe with no reserved seating. As an attendee since its inaugural year, I can say that the Del Mar Summer Concert Series embodies the San Diego lifestyle with live music, local craft beer and gorgeous backdrops (people included).

Sept. 4: Beer Festival featuring ZZ Top
This year, 4 O'clock Fridays will be held at the new Seaside Terrace stage. Promising more room and better vantage, the Seaside Terrace stage sits west of the grandstand.
