Days of Yorn

Jersey-born singer/songwriter Pete Yorn will play the Belly Up on Thursday.

Yorn, who cut his teeth on the talent show circuit in his native Montville, N.J., is known for his hard work and raw talent -- not to mention good music.

People have been noticing Yorn since early on; before age 10, he taught himself the drums, and soon after, he mastered the guitar.

After graduating from college, Yorn moved to L.A. A short time later, on the strength of his live show, he signed to Columbia Records. Soon came the critically acclaimed trilogy of LPs, musicforthemorningafter (2001), Day I Forgot (2003) and Nightcrawler (2006). In 2009, he released Back and Fourth, a musical answer to his sense of division and negativity in America. That same year, he also released a collaboration with actress Scarlett Johansson.

On Sept. 28, just a few days before Yorn plays the Belly Up, he will release his sixth studio album, the Frank Black (Pixies)-produced Pete Yorn. Yo4n has pledged to play the album in full in Solana Beach, so it's sure to be a night to remember. Add to that the fact that Yorn was signed to a major based solely on the strength of his live show, and you know what to do: get your tickets here.
