Sometimes when I can't sleep at night, I'll aimlessly scroll through my social feeds for news or pictures or something interesting to read and I came across a post about Penny & Sparrow, and this week I noticed that Rolling Stone had called their "White Ferrari" one of the 10 best country or Americana songs to hear right now. And then I went through my brain rolodex and realized the pair are playing the Belly Up tonight. And so it goes, beautiful and great delicate music and it's a seated show so you can fully embrace the vibe of it all. On the other end of Americana, you've got the raucous boot-stomping fare of the Ghost of Paul Revere at the Casbah, or the twangy mandolin strumming of Sluka can tickle your fancy at Soda Bar for their album-release show. Of course, you can go a little harder with Vaginals at Til-Two or OrchidXMantis at Bar Pink, but we just think whatever you do, you should get out and hear some live music this humpday. It might just do right by your soul.
