Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus (pictured l-r) headline the Observatory North Park Thursday.

When I first heard that Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus had recorded an EP together under the band name boygenius, I was elated. Having seen all of the artists individually and fallen in love with their music, I was sure the collaborration would be nothing short of, well, genius. And it definitely is. Which is why tonight's show at the Observatory North Park -- while not designated a boygenius show, per se -- is one I've been looking forward to since it was announced. The ladies will all play solo sets, and if their other show dates are an indication, they'll play together at the end. If you love beautiful music that at times might make the hair on your neck stand up, you'll be at this show (read the SoundDiego interview with Bridgers here). Around town, Sean Rowe plays the Casbah, rocker Bret Michaels plays the Belly Up, and Ken Club has a Thursday night show with San Francisco's Cut Up.
