Vinyl fans everywhere are both rejoicing and dreading today's Record Store Day (RSD) celebrations. Only a few years ago, it felt like local record stores were on the brink of extinction, but then a new wave of stores like Red Brontosaurus, Re-Animated and Vinyl Junkies Record Shack popped up, and we just might have proven that they can have a life here. Besides the fun of just searching bins of records, many shops are offering food, DJ sets and even live music. While you're out there, grab me the RSD Tweedy records, won't ya? Today is also a big day for La Escalera Fest, with afternoon shows bouncing between the Office and Bar Pink. Downtown there's a cool (and free) block party in the vicinity of Quartyard. By nightfall, Baby Bushka bring their Kate Bush tribute to the Casbah, Club Sabbat celebrates 21 years at Spin and you can find me at Soda Bar for the amazing and lovely John Vanderslice.
