It's you and your tween's time to get your Nickelodeon on as Jennette McCurdy (aka Sam Puckett on iCarly) gets off the web and into local malls to benefit a good cause.
The 18-year-old is taking a break from yelling at her TV classmates to flex her vocals in another direction: country music. The Generation Love for St. Jude tour will be making a stop at Grossmont Center in San Diego on April 5. At each performance, screaming tweenage fans will be able to get their little hands on a $10 package that includes two songs ("Generation Love" and "Put Your Arms Around Someone") and a photo of McCurdy. All proceeds will go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
In its first week, the Generation Love tour raised more than $26,000. McCurdy’s feisty TV character melts away in person; she became involved with the hospital when it sponsored a chance for brain cancer patient Cody Waters to meet the cast of iCarly. McCurdy remained friends with Waters until he died in 2009, at 9 years old. She dedicated her single "Homeless Heart" to the boy and his foundation.
