They play kinda dark melancholic music that vocally reminds me of early Depeche Mode minus the extra synthiness. At the Casbah, once you get past the confusing name and realize it has nothing to do with canvas and paint, check out Imperial Beach garage rockers Free Paintings, who lead a Tim Pyles-endorsed lineup including Lefties and Beverage. If you wanna stick to North Park, Julia Sage & the Bad Hombres continue their Monday night residency and would love to pack the house with new fans, and since the show is free, you hardly have an excuse not to go.
