Sounds Like San Diego: June 6

Father John Misty heads into SDSU's Open Air Theatre Thursday, June 6, with Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit and Jade Bird.

Being a woman in the music industry has always been hard. Guys do interviews with artists all the time and nobody bats an eye, but as a woman, a lot of assumptions are made about bands, namely being presumed to be a "groupie" or just getting in the industry to swoon about artists. It takes a long, long time to be taken seriously, so I definitely wouldn't want to ruin all the years by gushing about how much I love Father John Misty. But come on -- I've been to every San Diego show he's played...both Casbah shows, the one at the Observatory North Park, and the most recent one at Humphreys. Tonight, he's co-headlining at SDSU's Open Air Theatre and you better believe I'll be there. He'll be joined by the amazing Jason Isbell, and Jade Bird, who I had the pleasure of interviewing for our TV show when she debuted at the Casbah last year. Around town, the Wild Reeds will be at the Casbah, Pleasure Fix headline Soda Bar, and Jackie Greene returns to the Observatory North Park.
