The last time Dodie played San Diego, she sold out the Irenic more than six months in advance. I was working at the show and admittedly unfamiliar, and so I did a couple quick searches to discover that this singer-songwriter was not only a talented singer-songwriter, but a true woman of the modern era, with engaged and active social networks, and even an Instagram account devoted to what she was wearing and where to buy her look. Her fans were young and enthusiastic and there was kind of this "we're all in this together" warmth that counters the self-deprecating and self-loathing that seems to be trending in music today. So for all the flower-power, good-vibe VSCO girls out there, tonight's Dodie show at House of Blues is for you. Around town, the Parlor Mob take over the Casbah, Dropkick Murphys and Clutch lead a brutal lineup at Petco's Park at the Park, Stone Temple Pilots are at SDSU, and rap legend KRS-One performs at the Holding Company.
