Sounds Like San Diego: March 4

The intensity of Beirut is something to behold -- every show bathed in beautiful lighting and melancholy horns

I know with the kinds of schedules the majority of people have to live and work, Mondays can be especially hard; however, for service industry professionals, Monday can often be their Saturday, so it's especially nice when an amazing band like Beirut schedules a Monday night show. Because it's at the Observatory, you can still be sure it will be done by the 11 p.m. nightly news, and you can still lock in your good 6 to 8 hours of sleep if you plan ahead. I love the intensity of Beirut, and every show I've seen has been bathed in beautiful lighting that's accentuated when the melancholy horns join in on their songs. I'm told this show is expected to sell out, but there are still some tickets if you try online early enough today. Around town, Julia Sage & the Bad Hombres headline Casbah, hardcore act Tragedy play Soda Bar and Al Barnes plays Bar Pink with my good bud Davey Tiltwheel.
