Who says kids have all the fun? The annual Vans Warped Tour has had audiences headbanging for the last 20 years with some of the biggest names in punk, metal and hard rock -- and now parents can get in on the action for free.
Kevin Lyman, the creator of the Warped Tour, announced in 2013 that they'd be offering parents free tickets to attend the festival, to help address transportation issues and the fact that many Warped Tour attendees are under the age of 18.
This year is no different: The "Bring a parent for free!" campaign offers "one complimentary parent admission to accompany a minor (under 18) that has purchased a ticket to a 2014 Warped Tour show." Yep, that’s right -- now parents can join their kids at the festival and take in the sights and sounds of the all-day rock spectacle.
2014's Vans Warped Tour lineup is as impressive as they come -- Finch, Bayside, Every Time I Die, Mayday Parade, Yellowcard, Falling in Reverse, Less Than Jake, the Devil Wears Prada, Anberlin and Saves the Day are just some of the main acts scheduled to perform Wednesday, June 25 at Sleep Train Amphitheatre in Chula Vista.
The tour typically hosts over 100 bands per day, with groups playing for approximately 30-minute sets over 10 or more stages -- including an "Acoustic Basement" stage that offers a slightly quieter side, featuring artists like Bad Rabbits, Better Off, Mike Herrera (of MxPx), Young Statues and Divided Heaven.
According to the Warped Tour press release: "The complimentary ticket can only be picked up at the yellow top Vans Warped Tour guest list tent, located near the front entrance of the venue. The complimentary ticket is non-transferable and the patron must show proof (actual ticket, receipt or electronic order confirmation) at the tent. Limit one complimentary ticket per party."
