Rockin' Robin

91x's Robin Roth checks in with her top picks for your musical weekend

While many of us in San Diego are making the trek to the big festival in the desert, those staying in town can enjoy a plethora of fun things to do this weekend.

Friday night dance shenanigans include Halo and Jon Dadon at Bang Bang On the live-music tip Two Wolves and Low Volts take over the Whistle Stop; the Beautiful View, Neighbors to the North, Takahashi, Subsurfer and the Paragraphs play at the Casbah; Movits! headline an early show at Soda Bar (moved from the Irenic) and then a late show with Brother Weiss, Jackson Price and Diamond Lakes at Soda Bar; the Dodos play at The Loft (UCSD); and Super Diamond and Betamaxx are at the Belly Up (Saturday's show is sold out).

On Saturday, I’ll be hosting Club Sabbat at Numb3rs with DJs Drew Harlander and Dark Angel in the front room and Doktor Zayus in the back room (get more info here). At Fluxx, Rob Zilla celebrates the Big 4-0 with DJ Sid Vicious; Gavin Hardkiss hits El Dorado; and Booty Bassment takes over the Whistle Stop. At  the Tin Can, its Chica Diabla, Mittens and Focke-Wolves; Gone Baby Gone will perform a free show during Ray at Night; Gregory Page plays at Lestats; the Stitches headline at Soda Bar; and the Casbah features Nashville Ramblers, Schitzophonics and the Scouse Gits.

Sunday, Smooth Harbor Yacht Club play at the Hotel Palomar’s SummerSalt Pool Lounge as part of the Spring Pig Roast, and later that night at Soda Bar, check out Break Anchor (featuring Jason Navarro of the Suicide Machines), Plane Without a Pilot (Spotlighted this week on SoundDiego TV) and Ash Williams.
Have a great weekend, and I’ll see you on the dance floor.
