The Wallflowers Hit the Track

The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club welcomes yet another big name to their 2015 concert series

Recently, we announced the 2015 Del Mar Thoroughbred Club's Summer Concert Series lineup, and it's a doozy if we've ever seen one. Big-name artists like the Offspring, Weezer and Ziggy Marley are all set to hit the track this year, but while we were looking through the lineup, there appeared to be a couple open dates -- and it turns out that the Wallflowers will be headlining one of them: July 17!

The Grammy award-winning, alt-country outfit hasn't hit these parts in a few years, and whenever we get to spend some quality time rocking with Jakob Dylan and Co., the better life seems to be. So you can imagine our excitement when we got word they were coming to town.

Who can forget those opening notes to "6th Avenue Heartache" (with Adam Duritz, whose Counting Crows played the racetrack last year), and the smoldering groove of "One Headlight" off their breakout smash 1996 record, "Bringing Down the Horse" (be sure to keep these guys away from the races!).

If their excellent catalog and past San Diego live performances are any indication, we'll be in for a killer night of good, old-fashioned rock & roll when the band stops in.

Be sure to stay tuned, because as we mentioned before, there are still a couple dates on the DMTC's calendar that are yet to be announced -- July 31 and Aug. 7. Who knows who they'll bring to town. Fingers crossed for the Rolling Stones, right?! (Too soon?)

As always, the shows take place after the last race of the day, and entry is free with a ticket stub to the races. Standalone tickets are $20 each. For more information, visit the Del Mar Thoroughbred's official website.
