The Classic San Diego Summer With Matisyahu

The beginning of July always marks the end of another funnel-cake-filled fair season at the San Diego County Fair. Although the fair’s annual concert series will soon come to a close, the music will continue until the very end with performance by Matisyahu and, on the Fourth of July, Weird Al.

Matisyahu was propelled to fame on the stregth of his breakthrough albumm Youth, which spawned the monster hit single “King Without a Crown.” The artist has garnered rave reviews ever since for his eclectic incorporation of reggae, hip-hop and alternative rock.

So far, Matisyahu has spent his summer touring North America with the Dirty Heads to promote his forthcoming release, Spark Seeker, out on July 17. This solo stop in San Diego marks one of his only scheduled Southern California shows on this leg of the tour.

Matisyahu will take to the Fair’s Heineken Grandstand stage on July 3. The show is free with fair admission, which means it will cost you no more than one last hurrah on the Ferris wheel to enjoy Matisyahu’s soulful, summery sounds live. However, the funnel cake will still cost you.
