Spinning Out in San Diego

It’s safe for us locals again, as thousands have departed San Diego for their hometown destinations after a crazy weekend of freaks, geeks and superheroes. You can put away everything from Comic-Con but your pirate costume.

More about that coming up. In the meantime, check out Voyeur, as LED presents My Life Every Thursday with Moombahton master Dillon Francis from Los Angeles. Francis started making music at age 18, hibernating for about a year in Atlanta to learn his trade. Now 23, he has caught the attention of some of the top players over the past few years, including Diplo, Steve Aoki, Will I Am and Major Lazer. Production trio PeaceTreaty will also be on the bill for this fun night of music. To get in for free, all you have to do is RSVP on the event page and arrive before 10:30 p.m. Sweet!

Friday night, there are so many different options for you to choose from. Will it be the MegaBounce ultimate circus party at 4th & B, LexiconDon’s DJ set at U-31 or Dub Smugglers at Kava Lounge? I plan on doing as many of these as possible. The most stops I’ve ever made in one night is four. I doubt I can break my own record, but I’ll try.

On Saturday, don your favorite pirate-inspired attire and join Club Sabbat for another fun themed night at the Flame, in Hillcrest. Resident DJs Liquid Grey and yours truly will be spinning in the main room, with Drew Harlander keeping it old school in the back. Mermaid Kiara will add to the ambiance of the evening, and Randy Renaud will be doing live painting in the backstage area. For more info visit this link.

When Sunday arrives, nurse that hangover with me at West Coast Tavern for Resurrection Brunch. I’ll be spinning ‘80s and ‘90s tunes while you partake in the Bloody Mary Bar that has more than 40 ingredients. Of course there’s bacon! One of my favorite things on the menu -- chicken fried chicken. Brunch starts at 10 a.m., and I’ll begin hosting the festivities at noon with 91X. For more info and to make reservations, go here.

Other weekend events are listed in my blog. Shiver me timbers, and I’ll see you on the dance floor!

Robin Roth is a familiar voice in the San Diego scene.  She is on the air weekdays from 10am to 2pm on 91X, plus she promotes and spins all over town.  For more info about upcoming gigs, check out her event blog. Follow Robin on Twitter @robin_roth or submit your DJ listings here.
