Sounds Like San Diego: Sept. 8

With the heat wave coming, there's no better way to escape than with Alt 949's Indie Jam

We're supposed to have another heatwave this weekend, so what better way to spend it than by the coast? Specifically, at the Oceanside Pier for Alt 949's annual Indie Jam. They have a really cool lineup on one of the most scenic stages in the county: the Junior Seau Memorial Amphitheatre. I'm especially fond of Bishop Briggs and Superorganism, but it will be a great day from start to finish. In other festivals by the water, the annual Blues Festival goes down at Embarcadero Marina Park North and South Bay celebrates Pride with a free event at Chula Vista's Bayside Park. Take advantage of their shuttles, because parking there can be challenging. By night, check out Mom Jeans for an all ages show at the Irenic, catch British up-and-comer Jade Bird at the Casbah or see the return of uke virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro at Humphreys by the Bay.
