Sounds Like San Diego: September 3

The kiddos are back in school, the beaches have mostly cleared of tourists, and San Diego's music scene is right here to be your comfort food. While there are a lot of cool things going on on Wednesday night, my easy pick for the night is Mother Falcon and Kan Wakan at Soda Bar. Mother Falcon -- besides being an awesome band name that becomes really funny if you say it fast 10 times -- has continued to impress the few times they have been to San Diego. Twelve musicians -- at last count -- pack the stage with symphonic indie-pop bliss. It's kinda funny just watching them dodge each others' instruments on a tiny stage, but the music is pretty incredible, and there's so much going on, you end up just standing in awe, watching all the moving parts. Kan Wakan is equally stunning, somewhat in the vein of Other Lives, and together, this is definitely your winner for the night.
