Chvrches are back in town Thursday.

I have to apologize to all of the bands playing tonight. I'm sure country-music lovers will eat up a Jason Aldean show, Ween fans will love the Dean Ween Group at the Belly Up, Yungblud's Casbah debut, and our dear friends the Bronx opening for Thrice at the House of Blues -- but nothing has me more excited than the return of Chvrches to San Diego. I love everything about this band. I love their music. I love their massive light productions. I love that Scottish accent that makes them sound just a little smarter than the rest of us. And I love that frontwoman Lauren Mayberry is a strong, powerful, and intelligent woman who doesn't tolerate misogyny in the music industry, evidenced by interviews offstage as well as in her music onstage. To me, she is iconic and if you're a parent of young girl, Mayberry is the kind of role model you want your girls admiring. Catch Chvrches tonight at SDSU's Open Air Theatre.
