The San Diego Music Thing -- like any great festival or showcase intensive event -- is a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, there's great music to catch all over town. On the other hand, you can only be one place at a time, so you have to plan strategically to catch all the music you want to see. My bias on Saturday leans toward Cults at the parking-lot stage behind the North Park Theatre, because to me, they're just one of the best breakout artists of the last few years, and their local ties make them an elevated local act. Being outside, however, the show will end relatively early, so you can still catch Zeros at Bar Pink, Slow Magic at Soda Bar or my DJ friends Hood Internet over at the Merrow. Still, that doesn't even cover the whole spread of music available on Saturday, so plan carefully and enjoy the San Diego Music Thing.
