Sounds Like San Diego: Nov. 4

Rocket From the Crypt prove why we shouldn't take our music scene for granted

The other day I was listening to the Old School show on Sirius XMU, and the host was going on and on about John Reis and Rocket From the Crypt and then got into Hot Snakes and Drive Like Jehu and other San Diego acts. It's really easy, when you're a born and raised San Diegan, to take for granted the amazing music scene we've nurtured here. It's easy to forget that our bands matter beyond San Diego. For all of this, I am so excited to be going to Live Wire's 25th Anniversary Party tonight at the Observatory. Rocket and Mariachi el Bronx and the Meices are all cool, but the truly exciting thing will be all the people in attendance who have been massive contributors to what makes San Diego so amazing, including all the owners and staff of Live Wire, which has always been a mecca and gathering spot for all of us for 25 years. The show is sold out, however, so if you don't have a ticket, head to Casbah for the Black Heart Procession, Son Little at Soda Bar or Hiroshima Mockingbirds at Bar Pink.
