The last time Rachael Yamagata came to San Diego, she was crammed into a mixed bill that didn't even come close to highlighting her amazing voice and talent. Fast-forward several years, and the music business is in a completely different place. Without a label, Yamagata holed up in a house converted into a recording studio, slept in a tent and assembled her "dream team" to self-produce her latest, Chesapeake. There's a tone in the record of maturity, coming to peace with your life and taking control of your own destiny.
