Sounds Like San Diego: Nov. 11

Tuesday sees a powerhouse night with Goo Goo Dolls headlining Rob Machado's annual benefit concert at Belly Up, Old Man Canyon at Casbah and more

On Sunday night I was blown away by Dan Mangan, who hails from Vancouver. And maybe there's something in the water, because tonight Old Man Canyon (from the same town) hope to delight at the Casbah. Described as "dark folk," the band is reminiscent of Margot & the Nuclear So and So's or Edward Sharp & the Magnetic Zeros and other folksy bands with unnecessarily long names. This should be a good night of music for you, but if that isn't your bag, Run the Jewels and Ratking appear at Porter's Pub on the UCSD campus, Tiki Tuesday rocks out with the Blind Shake and more at Bar Pink, and the Wytches prove they deserve to be on your radar at Soda Bar. Of course, I couldn't get away without mentioning the Goo Goo Dolls performing at Rob Machado's charity event at the Belly Up (which we wrote about here). The band is known for playing massive venues, but Machado always has a way of getting his friends to play intimate shows on behalf of his philanthropic ventures. This is a rare show, so if you're a fan, have the scratch and can find a ticket to the sold-out event, this is not to be missed.
