Sounds Like San Diego: May 6

Diet Cig bring their new album to the Irenic

I'm just going to stick my fingers in my ears with a "la-la-la, I can't hear you," as our forecasters tell us to expect rain. I mean, that would be such a super bummer for all of the Cinco De Mayo and Rhythm & Brews crowds. Still, I'm hoping it'll be a light drizzle at worst and we can get out for some fun. At the Casbah, Face to Face has long been sold out, but look to North Park and City Heights for your fun tonight. At the Irenic, indie blog darlings Diet Cig are moving on up, and with a new record hot off the presses, this will certainly be a show for the cool kids. Soda Bar has also got a doozy with the Weeks. The Nashville-based, Mississippi-bred band just released a third record and toes an interesting line between indie and Southern rock. There are plenty of great options today and tonight, but we have to give a super special shoutout to Infused, a gathering of art and hip-hop at Oak Park Hall. The event is all ages, free and will be filmed for a forthcoming documentary about San Diego's thriving hip-hop scene.
