Sounds Like San Diego: May 27

Earlier in the weekend I told you there was a lot of great music ahead, but now I'm warning you that Monday night is slim pickins', so you better get your fill of music on Sunday. By day, the ravers (are we calling them ravers again?) should be happy, as there are events all over town with some of the most popular and renowned DJs in the world. The I Love This City festival breaks ground at Cricket Wireless and should keep the kiddos entertained all day long. Much like the IDentity Festival last summer, this one brings big named DJs to several stages, utilizing the main stage and the parking lot of Cricket for sets by Crystal Method, Wolfgang Gartner and Skrillex, to name a few. While I will be attending the festival, it's more as a socio-anthropologist, but who knows, maybe I'll get in the groove after a few cocktails. By nightfall, one of my favorite little indies returns to Bar Pink. Bad Veins are a duo from Ohio with some great songs and a really killer old tape machine they use for backing tracks. Alison Krause is at Humphreys, George Clinton is at Anthology, and the dance party continues all night long at the Casbah for Jivewire, minus the dubstep that dominates the day.
