Sounds Like San Diego: May 16

Scottish rockers the Trashcan Sinatras play two early albums in their entirety

The other night I was saying that Nada Surf's "Let Go" would be in my top 10 albums of all time, and tonight, I'd say the same for "Cake," the 1990 release from Trashcan Sinatras. Halloran was the first -- actually maybe the only -- radio DJ who was playing them back then, and even though I didn't really ever know what the heck they were talking about, "Only Tongue Can Tell" was always one of my favorite songs. I've seen the band several times over the years, but seeing them play "Cake" and "I've Seen Everything" in their entirety tonight at the Casbah is going to be extra super special. If I wasn't committed to that show, I'd definitely be trying to finagle tickets to Juanes, who is one of the biggest acts worldwide. I've only ever seen him live once many years ago when he played the San Diego County Fair, and he's gone on to win numerous Grammys and Latin Grammys and has sold millions of records worldwide. He appears tonight at Viejas Arena. Around San Diego, Human League play at Sycuan Casino, SDMA winner Whitney Shay plays at Bar Pink and Escalera performs at Chula Vista's Bar Sin Nombre.
