Sounds Like San Diego: May 12

Cloud Cult are likely to deliver an unforgettable show Sunday at Porter's Pub

It's Mothers Day and so as with every year, there's no better way for my family to enjoy the day than seeing my mom turn into a woo-girl at Gator By the Bay. What's a "woo-girl," you ask? It's when my mom really, really enjoys a band and screams "WooOOooo!!" after every song played by the zydeco bands. It fill my heart with joy. At night, however, I gotta tell you that you must go see Cloud Cult and JBM at Porter's Pub. I had the pleasure of seeing the show in Santa Ana on Friday night, and it really blew my mind. Cloud Cult play these richly layered songs, complete with guitars and keyboards and banjo and violin and trombones and French horns, while an artist live-paints on a canvas with a rotating easel. They silent-auction the artwork, and it is so incredible to watch paint splatters turn into a gorgeous image. JBM is quiet and lovely, and has a couple albums of great music under his belt. If you love indie music with real heart, this is one not to miss.
