Sounds Like San Diego: March 9

Mt. Joy, Dead Man's Party, Palm and more head up your Friday night live-music options

It's hard to find a more ringing endorsement for a new band than Pearl Jam's Mike McCready performing on a track and appearing in its video. The Seattle quartet Thunderpussy is garnering tons of critical attention and tonight make their Casbah debut. Meanwhile, Soda Bar is nearly sold out with Mt. Joy, with NPR saying of the band: "At once amiable and soaring, Mt. Joy's songs unfold like good political speeches." Belly Up is sold out with Dead Man's Party, Whistle Stop has a loaded lineup, and art-rockers Palm appear at Space. If you hit that one, get there early for Rob Crow...his solo performances are always interesting and unpredictable.
