It was impossible to grow up with alternative rock in San Diego and not experience some affinity for Mike Ness and Social Distortion throughout the years. Having the smoking and drinking skeleton logo as a tattoo was almost a rite of passage for guys when I went to school. I remember recording a live acoustic version of "Prisonbound" that I'd heard on 91x, and I remember losing my cool when that same cassette was chewed up by our 1985 Crown Vic's car stereo. The band is part of Southern California culture is all I'm trying to say. So it's no suprise that both shows at the Observatory have sold out, but if you're resourceful, you might be able to find some loose tickets available online. Meanwhile, Blackalicious energizes the Casbah, the Office goes country (and free drinks if you dress the part), and Mike Pinto plays the Belly Up.
