For a band that constantly tours and has played San Diego at least a few times, it's hard to believe that Ivan & Alyosha are still in the process of recording their debut album. They have released a 4-song EP, though, titled Fathers Be Kind. The foursome hails from the Pacific Northwest and plays catchy folk infused with a bit of soul and multi-part harmonies that make for a great live performance. Locals Josh Ottum and Michael McGraw will open for the band at the Soda Bar, making for a solid Tuesday night in City Heights. At the Casbah, a four-bill lineup with Miniature Tigers, Geographer, The Chain Gang of 1974, and Pretty & Nice means the venue will open its doors an hour earlier than usual, so don't be late.
