Matt Costa headlines Casbah on Sunday, March 4.

It has been a few years since skateboarder turned singer/songwriter Matt Costa graced the stage of the Casbah, but I distinctly remember getting texts from friends and frenemies alike who were trying to score tickets to the show. A few years have passed and while there have been some EPs along the way, this short West Coast stint is actually to celebrate his breakout album, "Songs We Sing," though it was also announced on Friday that he'll drop his first album in five years ("Santa Rosa Fangs"), so I would predict we hear some of those tunes, too, including the first single, "I Remember It Well." This is going to be a special and intimate show and perfect for your Sunday night. Around town, catch the sneering "proto-punk" of Ex-Cult at Soda Bar, the soaring rock vocals of Starset at Soma or the Brazilian Jazz Festa at Dizzy's. CRSSD continues with another sold-out day and Stone Temple Pilots -- with new frontman Jeff Gutt -- play a sold-out show at the Observatory.
