Floridians Surfer Blood had what some might say was a meteoric rise within the indie-rock world, playing tiny venues then quickly jumping to the large festival circuit and being the darlings of South By Southwest. When I interviewed the band members a couple years back, they were frustrated after recording a follow-up to their debut and feeling overwhelmed by a lack of inspiration. They scrapped the album and with new life have resurrected with the forthcoming record Pythons. You might say they're road-testing it back the way they started -- with a small tour of intimate venues. They're performing at the Casbah on Sunday, and in my opinion, they really shine when they're close to fans. See them here before they head out on a bigger tour with Foals.
