I have to admit that I was a little bit sad that Rob Crow's Gloomy Place didn't make their first show ever happen in San Diego, though I guess they played at the Casbah for their music video, so maybe that counts. Regardless, I've been excited about this show for a long time. As many San Diegans know, at one point Rob Crow posted a cryptic Facebook message about quitting music. Fortunately, we learned that was not the case as Pinback performed in the late summer last year and word of this new project started being talked about. The record is some of his finest work, and perhaps reflects his personal transformation, a severe lifestyle change that involved quitting booze, losing weight, and gaining new focus on what's really important to him, namely his family. There are still some tickets to this show, but expect it to sell out tonight, so get there early.
