It's hard to ignore the hype when a band like Overcoats comes to town. Their debut album, "Young," has been praised by the New York Times, Billboard, NPR, and other critics, who all seem to agree it's one of the best records of 2017 so far. Other reviews have marveled at the chemistry the two best friends have on stage, declaring the shows not to be missed. Tonight, they're at the Casbah and with all the hype, you can assume next time around that they'll be on a much larger stage -- so catch 'em while you can. Meanwhile at Soda Bar, Brooklyn singer-songwriter Kevin Devine has built a devoted following but is always taking new recruits, and my dear friends the Heavy Guilt make their triumphant return with a show at the Pour House in Oceanside. If you're heading to the San Diego County Fair, don't miss the singer of the love songs of my youth, Peter Cetera, hitting the Grandstand stage.
