Sounds Like San Diego: June 23

Spanish Gold, an indie rock supergroup, headline Soda Bar tonight

There are some interesting choices for your Monday night music. I'm interested in checking out Spanish Gold, a new band with a new record who've already appeared on "The Late Show with David Letterman," among others. The band is comprised of Patrick Hallahan (My Morning Jacket), Adrian Quesada (Brownout), and Dante Schwebel (City and Colour). South Of Nowhere is already garnering buzz across the blogosphere so you might as well catch them live on their way to widespread notoriety. Meanwhile at the Casbah, Kuenta I Tambu -- which "Rolling Stone" describes as "a go-hard blend of peak rave synths and traditional Afro-Curacaoan tambu music" -- appears with Mystery Cave, which could make for a Monday night dance party. Around town, David Francis appears at Tin Can Country Club, Nightmares on Wax hit the House of Blues, and keep an eye out at the Merrow, who appear to be booking more shows beyond just the weekend.
