Sounds Like San Diego: June 16

Marian Hill head up a litany of live-music options to kickstart your weekend

I don't like to use this space to self-promote, but if you're heading up to the Fair, I will be one of the judges for the local Battle of the Bands contest with my dear friend Timothy Pyles hosting the whole shebang. It's gonna be a scorcher, but we're ready for all the fun a day at the Fair can bring. It's also the first day of their International Beer Festival...pretty convenient, if ya ask me. Of course, there are plenty of awesome shows in town, too, like songwriting duo Marian Hill playing the Observatory or the prolific (Sandy) Alex G playing at the Irenic (pro tip: get there in time for Japanese Breakfast, who opened for Mitski earlier this year and blew minds.) Casbah's got Guitar Wolf, Todo Mundo and the Moves Collective get the booties shakin' at Music Box, and Big D and the Kids Table brings early Warped Tour-era punk and ska to Soda Bar.
