When FYF was announced earlier this year, music fans were excited about another festival that had seemingly worked out some of the kinks of its earlier years, but the joy was shortlived as the event was eventually cancelled. Bands that had planned on routing through scrambled to make their tours worthwhile, and so L.A. and other areas, including San Diego, were the beneficiaries. One of those artists was Car Seat Headrest, heading to town for their third time. The show is at Soma, and, in my opinion, they're one of the best new indie bands to come out over the past five years. I love Comic-Con, but I will be dropping everything tonight so I can catch them live once again. They're clearly not the only hot show in town, but they're my jam. After, I think I'll head to the Casbah for another installment of San Diego Freak Out with Wild Wild Wets and Well Well Well, featuring Seton Edgeton, formerly of Barbarian. It's gonna be a fun and rowdy late night that will definitely have you enjoying a late Sunday sleep-in.
