It's the middle of the week and things are kind of quiet and calm right now, but I can only guess that's because everyone is laying low and saving up energy and money until Pride this weekend. You still have some lovely options, however, like Kentucky singer-songwriter Joan Shelley who is playing at Space. She released her fourth beautiful indie-folk gem earlier this year which was produced by Jeff Tweedy of Wilco and praised by music critics and tastemakers. Meanwhile the Belly Up hosts local psych-rockers Featherstone (not to be confused with the Swedish hard-rock band of the same name), and Mutoid Man -- the Metalcore supergroup made up of members of Cave In, All Pigs Must Die, Converge -- play at Casbah. If you're still not feeling the calling to head out, perhaps the Merrow is your calling as bands battle out pop-punk vs. rock en Espanol with our good friends Alive & Well and Marujah.
