For years, there have been rumors that the lounge at Valley View Casino Center (formerly San Diego Sports Arena) would serve as a small venue between major concerts and sporting events. "The Lounge," "The Ramp" and other names floated around with various promoters pitching the idea, but it seems none ever actually got it going. Tonight, however, at Valley View Casino Center, in what is being called the Stella Artois Lounge, there's a special performance by singer/songwriter Howie Day. Most known for his hits "Collide" and "She Says," Day has been consistently releasing music over the years, and his last stint in San Diego was at the now defunct Griffin. This will be a special performance in an underused room, so head down if you have a chance. Around town, Slaid Cleaves is at AMSD, Sub Pop recording artist Kyle Craft is at Casbah and New Madrid is at Soda Bar.
