Sounds Like San Diego: July 1

There are times when I appreciate that San Diego is known for being a sleepy town. And then there's Monday night, when the Belly Up, Casbah, and Soda Bar all sold out, the latter two on the night of the show, and I want you to know that even though these listings are published the day of the show, there are so many ways to find out what is coming to town without missing your favorite bands. On Tuesday, Deafheaven play the Casbah, and they're pretty mind-blowing; at press time, there were still tickets available, but when doors open, there might not be, so plan accordingly. You can also catch Asher Roth performing an all-ages show at the Irenic, or head up to the San Diego County Fair without irony for Huey Lewis & the News. Steve Martin will be getting banjoriffic at Humphrey's, so whether you have a ticket or a canoe, maybe this is your calling. I warned you that this week was full of great music. Don't miss out.
