There are few San Diego bands that have had a more devoted fa nbase for the duration of its existence than Earthless. True story: When I was living in Kensington, my single girlfriends would make a point to go to the Ken Club for Earthless shows because we knew they would be packed with single dudes. The purely instrumental band is intense, and their light shows will definitely put you in a trance. Thursday is the first of two nights at the Casbah, and I gotta tell you, my recommendation is Thursday over Friday, since you'll have less weekend warriors to contend with. Around town, Paula Cole performs at the Belly Up, Andy Frasco & the U.N. are at Soda Bar, and Jeff Berkley is at Java Joe's.
