Veronica May has been rocking the San Diego scene for a while, but the last time I caught a set, the lyrics just hit me like a ton of bricks. Many of the songs were yet to be recorded, but it seems Veronica is testing the tunes with each show and they are crushing and painful and deep and heavy and you should definitely hear them live, whether May plays them solo or with the band. Veronica plays tonight at Soda Bar. At the Casbah, North County indie-pop group the Oxen headline a local lineup, and Schizophonics lead the bill at Til-Two Club.
