I'm not particularly fond of celebrating holidays on different days out of convenience. For example, it really bothers me that venues had "Mardi Gras" celebrations on the weekend. I mean it is literally called "Fat Tuesday," symbolic of the last day before Lent for Catholics. Still, it's hard for people to get out on Tuesdays, perhaps, so if you missed out on the fun, get that Mardi Gras feeling tonight at Winston's when Sure Fire Soul Ensemble and Euphoria Brass Band perform. There are plenty of shows to tickle your fancy tonight, like the Schizophonics at Casbah or Black Cat's 7-year anniversary. Ja Rule and Ashanti play a sold-out show at the Observatory, and Soda Bar hosts Pissed Regardless' album release.
