Sounds Like San Diego: Feb. 18

Planned Parenthood accepts donations at Coathangers show

I know that when the "biggest storm in 20 years" hits Southern California, there are some legitimate reasons to not go out or to think twice before getting on the road, but if you're able, there are some pretty awesome reasons to brave the weather. At Soda Bar, Florida's Surfer Blood are back in town. It will be bittersweet, as it's their first tour since Thomas Fekete died of cancer, but their new music is a nice tribute to their friend. Meanwhile at the Casbah, the ladies of the Coathangers are back with their sassy selves, and more importantly, Planned Parenthood will be on site accepting donations and distributing information. For the all ages crowd, locals the Frights are headlining a special night of about a dozen up and coming local acts -- all worth checking out.
