Sounds Like San Diego: December 9

One of the best things about the indie-music scene is the benefit of music discovery. You can see a show at a small venue, maybe on a whim, or maybe to catch a buzzy headliner, and through the course of the night you discover a great band opening the show as tour support. Such is the case for me with O'Death. The band performed at the Casbah a few years ago and gave such a great performance that they have stuck out in my listings, and whenever they return to town every couple years, I always make sure to see them. With instruments like banjo and accordion filling the sound, you might mistake them for typical folkies, but once they start playing, you realize they're so much more. Their high-energy shows feel more like a punk band than indie-folk. Their last show at Tin Can was epic, with the dance floor literally bouncing from the energy of the crowd. On Sunday they headline the Casbah and shouldn't be missed if you are looking for some Sunday-night whisky-filled fun.
