Sounds Like San Diego: December 4

It's the holiday season, and most local radio stations have their own concert celebration to welcome listeners to a sampling of the music styles programmed on the individual stations. This year, KPRI gets the award for the most eclectic mix of music, representing their Then and Now programming with a concert in one of San Diego's concert gems, the Spreckels Theatre, with the Doobie Brothers, Shawn Mullins and Crystal Bowersox (read Chris Cantore's blog). I remember looking through my parents' records in college (while deciding which ones I would swipe) and listening to the Doobies. and not really getting it. Now that I'm older and have more diverse tastes, I'm glad that those records are in my possession. The band has survived decades, and with an all-new record under their belts, my mom and I can share the music experience together.

If that's not your flavor, you can check out San Diego's Earthless, who have been on tour for so long that their overdue hometown performance is one of just a couple this year, or head up to Bar Pink for some fresh talents (Mississippi Man, Rumspringa and a SoundDiego favorite, the Howls). I have to say, while our focus here at SoundDiego is music, I'm a little sad I'll be missing my comedy crush, Louis CK, over at the Balboa Theatre.
